Rest In Peace, Judith

Jan brought us together and when we met, we couldn’t understand why we hadn’t before (we had another mutual friend, I guess he thought we wouldn’t get along). Instant friends, we had a crazy night at Le Klub, but then didn’t see each again for awhile. That’s just how it was. She was sweet and funny and had a gentle soul. I loved getting her calls out of the blue, she’d babble on and on about anything and everything, then apologise and I’d insist that she shouldn’t. She wasn’t very reliable. She loved her friends passionately and she knew that with her, they had to put up with alot. I hated hearing about her last moments. I walked through the forest this afternoon, there was a girl ahead of me with beautiful long orange hair (or maybe I just imagined she did?), the sun was shining its rays down on her and she glowed. I hope you’ve found peace, Judith xxx

Reasons to be cheerful

As I ran in the forest, cursing the powers that be for locking us out of our apartment for a second time within three weeks, I became aware of the very real Wintery appearance the forest had taken on. The grey sky, the trees with very little leaf coverage and the muddy ground with wet puddles on the verge of freezing over and the fellow joggers and walkers all rugged up to protect against the crisp biting cold. As I continued, I spotted the colours of ‘tent city’ (that’s the name I gave it) , the sparse foliage now making it easy to see the homeless community who make the forest their home, through all seasons. They have the right to be there, the government allows it. For the most part they live peacefully amongst each other and keep to themselves aways from the society that uses the forest for leisure.

I thanked my stars for:

Even having a home to get locked out of.
Financial security.
My clients for placing faith in my skills and services.
My brother for helping me get kicked started.

Samantha’s cousin, Serena

New Year’s Eve someone said I reminded them of Serena, from Bewitched. Can’t think why?

Anyway I won’t pretend I was not flattered, she was my favourite childhood TV character, (besides Jeannie) I only watched Bewitched in the off chance that Serena would make an appearance. Anyway, I was reminded how fascinated I was by the similarity between Samantha and Serena, believing they were twins. Visual trickery of the late 60s really had me fooled.

Who am I?

Rachel in Paris

Rachel Myers-Calvo, living in Paris, France with child and husband.

I kept a diary from the age of 10 and a visual diary from about 16. In the last 5 years I have LOST them all and it is an X files mystery as to where they might be. I fret about them every so often.

The online diary or “blog” part of this site is a resource that I am using to record purely POSITIVE thoughts, so that I can refer back to them when I am feeling not-so-positive. It is also for imagery that I come across; a place to record inspiring artists and people. I’ll be documenting places I have been and exhibitions I have seen. Adventures and experiences, the ones I always have in memory but of which I always forget the finer details.

It’s also to display my own digital photo album which sits in a folder on my computer and is barely ever opened. Access to that will be password only – my birthdate in numbers.
